Doctors for Obama Phonebanking House Meetings
Hosting or attending a Doctors for Obama House Party is a great way to connect with people in your community and help elect Barack Obama! No experience is needed to host.
How to host a meeting
- Step One:
- Pick your day(s). We suggest October 29 (have a party, call people, and watch Barack's 30-minute special at 8pm EST on NBC, CBS, or Fox) and November 1-2 (last weekend for change!).
- Step Two:
- Read the host guide, register your event, and invite friends all through barackobama.com. Make sure you ask everyone to bring their cell phone and laptop if they have one.
- Step Three:
- Email us the link to your event, and we'll invite members in your area and post it on this site.
- Step Four:
- Learn how to use the phonebanking tool if you haven't used it yet.
- Step Five:
- Have a wonderful and productive party! Spend the first 30 minutes or so doing introductions and giving a brief overview of the plan and phonebanking (you can just read the two guides from the phonebanking page and then read the instructions and show the how-to video on that page). If people do not have laptops, you can print out caller lists and log the responses afterward.
- Remember to have all your group members log their total calls through the link off the phonebanking page.
FAQ
What time should the meeting be?
Aim for a 3-hour meeting ending by 9pm in Colorado (the most western state we're calling).
Can my non-doctor friends come to the party?
Yes! They can call non-health care voters directly through barackobama.com.
What if we have are any problems or questions during my party?
After you email us the link to your party, we will assign someone to be on call for you.
What if I don't have all the answers?
No one expects you to be a policy expert. Tell voters what you know and then direct them to barackobama.com and doctorsforobama.org. Voters are swung by hearing you tell them why you support Barack.
What if we call a voter who is a staunch non-supporter of Barack?
Thank them for their time, and move on!
What if a string of voters aren't home?
Everything we do helps the campaign hone the master list, so even noting a wrong number helps. Also, because we're a doctor and med student group, we are leaving messages on machines telling people about Doctors for Obama.
